Seven±two software measurement conundrums
نویسندگان
چکیده
Since computer science has traditionally considered itself more an application of discrete logic than of continuous functions, measurement has not played as important a role in software as it has in other areas of engineering. Since few computer science programs teach courses in measurement theory, statistics, experimental design, or related areas, software engineering has not benefited from rigorous development as a quantitative science. This article discusses several current problems facing the quantitative study of software engineering that present challenges to the software measurement community.

Design and Implementation of a Reactor Physics Laboratory Simulation Software
The basic structure of a reactor physics laboratory environment simulation software, developed using object modeling technique (OMT), and based on the reactor point kinetic equation, is presented. Also, various capabilities of the simulator in teaching the fundamental concepts of reactor physics are discussed. In this virtual laboratory, student can perform seven different experiments, ...

متن کاملSoftware Visualisation Conundrums
Visualisation is compelling because of it has multidimensionality of presentation, data integration, and use. It facilitates understanding and analysis of complex data through opening up the visual perceptive channel as well as relying on the more standard forms of information location, assimilation and insight. The use of visualisation techniques to aid those who work with systems and software...
متن کاملThe network perspective will help, but is comorbidity the question?
Latent variable modeling has revealed important conundrums in the DSM classification system. We agree that the network perspective has potential to inspire new insights and resolve some of these conundrums. We note, however, that alone it cannot really help us understand etiology. Etiology, not comorbidity, is the fundamental question.
متن کاملMotor Learning Conundrums (and Possible Solutions)
What value is there in effective practice regimes if these same regimes do not, in themselves, engage the learner to continue to practice? This question was discussed in the context of two practice schedules that have been shown to be effective in studies of motor learning. But recent evidence has found these practice schedules to be either inefficient in their use of practice time (distributed...
